for the love of oatmeal, that last one took a long time to publish.
in my own defense, bloggy no worky
and that was for ages, oh my
i've got a job application that i'm filling out
so maybe i'll have a job eventually
i hope so, cause crap, that's also been ages
it's a home improvement store, and i want to be in the gardening section
it seems like a really good place for me to be, i like plants
i don't really want to run the register, though
which is good, because they have a position that has most of the same responsibilities as a cashier, except instead of ringing people out, you have to help them bring things into their car, which is something that i don't mind. at least it's not on the spot math, oh man, the simplest problem suddenly acquires a complexity that i can't wrap my mind around. carrying a bag of soil to an old lady's car is something that doesn't get really confusing when you're put on the spot. i'm not really sure you can be put on the spot, in such a case.
on a related note, have you ever noticed how big brother-y and intimidating these job applications can be? you feel like you're signing your life away.
ed- "we're gonna do a huge background check on you, yesiree! call the fbi, ned, we've got a new applicant!"
ned- "ok. hey, how much blood do we need for the tests?"
ed- "oh, i'd say about 10 quarts will do."
me (thinking)- "sweet holy crap! do i even have 10 quarts of blood?! what am i signing up for?!"
ed- "a job, of course! oh, we can hear your thoughts with our special machines!"
*i fall to the floor and lie there weeping, my mind a broken mess*
ed- "broom-bot!"
broom-bot- "beep beep!"
*broom-bot sweeps me out of the building and into a pile of other applicants in similar conditions*
pile of applicants- *sniffle, sob* "mustard, mustard, mustard..."
ned- "ed, the applicant's are chanting mustard again, it's bothering me!"
ed- "kick-bot!"
*a kicking robot goes outside and kicks all the applicants, who promptly stop chanting mustard*
ed- "it sure is fun getting people to sign their lives over to us, isn't it ned?"
ned- "it sure is, ed, it sure is!"
...
how very absurd, yet very nightmarish. at least i think it is. perhaps i'm alone here.
i'm not yet done with the archives to either comic mentioned in the last blog
pokey interruped t&r, and now fat jesus is also in the mix
i hadn't read it in a while, you know, but i was mailing mike leffel
and i started feeling really bad about having let that slip
so i'm catching up on that too
i've been keeping up correspondence with bob scott
my site might move to keenspace as well
that is, when i've got some comics scanned
and all that jive
which hasn't happened yet
but could soon, if i finish the things i want to finish
exactly when that'll happen is anyone's guess, but i hope it'll be soon
still no further education. sad.
a lot less money in the bank account. also sad.
still no girlfriend, or anything even close thereto. sad, but expected.
the fact that that's expected. very sad.
ah well, it wouldn't really have been good to have a girlfriend, mostly because i had no money or prospects for a job where i could get some. but i really don't care as much about a job as i do my education, which is quite a lot trickier to get a hold of. especially since it would help to have a job first, even if it's just so they'll give me a student loan. they like it when you have a means of paying those back, you know. not that i've ever gotten one. hell, i don't even know where i want to go to school yet.
well, enough from me. later everyone.
