hola people
what's up?
this week has been not so bad
finished junky
am now making my way through plutonian ode
beat oracle of seasons
time to get ages back from chris, i guess.
the things that still escape me
are the secrets
like, i hear you get them from people
but i've spoken to most of the people in the game
and they only seem to want secrets
not to give them to me
so i'm thinkin maybe i learn them in the other game
and go back and tell them
i've learned some secrets in this game, though
i guess there are some you learn from this one
and some from the other
makes sense, i guess
looking forward to playing ages as a continuation
and then on it's own
so i can play seasons as a continuation too
that could be cool
and also delay any need for gamecube
which doesn't look like
it'll make it's way into my hands anytime soon
i think i'm down to pocket change in the bank account
got $8 of gas today
and $8 was the only dollar amount i had
when last i checked
but i do have a check that hasn't gone through yet
at least not that i know of
ugh... i need to find a job
that's the hard part
and i hate doing it
target turned me down already
got a thing in the mail
i have my application from borders
and one from k.b. toys
neither place has ever hired me ever
so i'm not expecting much
lauren heard a thing on the radio
about a job that pays a lot
that looks like it'd be great for her
so hopefully that'll go through
there's a cvs thing that my mom told me about
i have no idea where it is
but it is supposedly really easy
and pays high
i'm thinkin i'll go for it
but i'm a failure, let's face it
after 3 months or so, i'll end up losing it somehow
and be back in the same damn position
with another far too short-term job on my resume
all adding up to me not getting hired for something else
making it all harder in a cycle that won't end til i do
lauren (among others) has said you gotta go stuff to fail
i, on the other hand, think that not doing anything
is one of the biggest failures
you stagnate after a while
i mean, at first it's great
you don't have a job tying you down
and you still have money
but eventually, you drain your account
and those of the people around you
and the creativity goes away
so you've no longer got that to do
at some point, you just enter a stasis
stuck, unmoving
then, the rot sets in
stagnation, like billabongs in australia
when the dry season comes up
without the continuous flow of water
bacteria multiplies, making water undrinkable
the expenses, like the animals, don't stop coming
crowds gather at whatever water can be found
they drink, evaporation takes what they don't
and then what?
no more you.
just the area where the water used to be
still acrid-aired from the bacteria that are still left
so that the billabong smells bad
the stench of failure
the thing is
when you describe it to people
they think it sounds great
no job
having all the free time in the world
having other people pay your way
but that's just what jobs do to people
makes them yearn for not-work
very understandable
what they don't get is that it's about as fun
as having to bathe in and drink from
that fetid, foul-smelling, microbe-infested billabong
of course, on the flip-side
there is the wet season
replenishing the dry beds of creativity
of insufficient funds
letting the animals spread out
the water flows again
purity comes through movement
after a while, you'd be glad to bathe or drink it in
no smell remains, no foul taste
the bacteria
with no time to multiply
and temperatures
that aren't as much like a sweaty armpit
can no longer make the water diseased
but while the dry and wet seasons
are on a contiuous cycle in the billabong
it seems a whole lot less regular
for the wet to come in a state of failure
so that things are a slight more bleak
the few tiny drops of hope
having seemingly evaporated
formed clouds
and been blown away on some jet stream
to bring rain to some far off place
but the thing that gets you most about the whole thing
is that every once in a while
some really excitible australian guy in khaki shorts
will come around and shout things about crocodiles
i mean, what's with that guy?
ah well, he seems nice enough, if a bit odd.
^_^
later everyone.
