an addendum to the last post-

i talked to beth and feel immensely better about today
i'd been waiting all damn day for an actual laugh
you know, for the funny bone to kick in
i mean, if you're going to have a pre-made snack cake implanted in your brain, it might as well work, right? i came up with that, but never had a place in the conversation to use it, so i'm putting it here. seems as good a place as any.
poor beth, she'd been expending all of her energy worrying and such today that she had to go to bed. anyway, we had a few laughs. she needed them, too, i bet. i mean, she's probably been watching all day, whereas i got too mad at the president for being so horrible as to get us attacked like this (granted, it happened with clinton, who wasn't horrible, in '93, but as i said, middle-easterners don't like us, and bush is as tactless as they come when it comes to foreign policy), so i didn't watch the bulk of it. i'm gonna go check it out again, though, because i need an update. so anyway, beth and i got in a few laughs and that's good.
beth has a way of putting things into perspective just by being empathetic, like she was telling me how she was lucky enough to be tired, instead of people in ny who are bound to be too busy with loss and helping to get tired. and after that was when my funny kicked in, i guess cause i felt like beth needed a laugh, which makes sense to me, cause it's not like that isn't something i've done before.
i'm one of those people... you know?
i try to help out, anyway. beth ended up going to sleep so the day would end, and i know how she feels. i'm quite weary of it, myself. i'm sick of the press gettin all sensationalist, and coming up with titles for this like "day of terror" which only make things worse, and i'm sick of it being all over the tv. i'm sick of the whole bloody thing, and the only thing worse than how it is now is knowing that tomorrow, it will not have gone away, even after the planes are allowed to run again.

on a light note, i saw tmbg on the daily show. i don't believe i mentioned it, and i don't really care if i'm repeating myself, anyway. linnell actually talked! astonishing, kinda. and i missed them on there last night, so i'm really glad i watched it today. i don't like that i didn't catch the actual release date of mink car! boo on that! i shall own that album eventually!

i'm still hungry, but there's a little bit of stuff to be done.
i'm on the 2nd story in dubliners.
i like the book so far, it's pretty dang good, i'd say.

so i suppose i should mention the suicide bombings that happened today
you know, in case someone missed it.
well, i hope all my favorite new yorkers are still alive.
i'd say "and the rest of them too"
except i know at least a few people died, so that would clearly be
somewhat like saying "i hope those people i know died lived!"

so, am i surprised by this?
hell no.
bush is such a tactless idiot that something was bound to happen sometime
and let's face it, the middle-easterners don't like us at all
so it's just like i said. it's just about war time.
i was hoping against that, though
no matter how much i've said the country needs to have it's ass kicked.

so i bought "then" today
good stuffs, i like.
and i got me old kinda pens
you know, the ones that i'm able to draw with
i still haven't done any comics, but it's nice to know that the pens are there
so that's good
and i bought a pack of 2 refills for the pen i had before that
which i could draw well enough with
and is retractable
so that's good too
and i've been writing tid-bits of lyrics down
like, little things that strike me as useful
i'm trying to get it moving
i'm trying

i was disappointed that nathan's prediction that tmbg's new album was coming out today did not at all come true. at least not around here. that's why i bought then. it had stuff i hadn't heard on it, and i figured that would have to suffice. i like when linnell plays guitar, it's funny.
nathan was also the one that told me i'd find my bike in the basement of the alamo...

i have a tom selleck sticker on my door that i took off of the door of a cvs last night.
i was out with lauren, and she had al grab a couple traffic cones that were just lying on the side of the road doing nothing. so then we went around looking for things to steal half the rest of the night. the other half was spent trying to find a place to get a drink, because lauren was thirsty. we ended up at the cvs, and there was a tom selleck sticker on the door. when we left, we were halfway to the car, and i decided that that sticker would be mine! and so it is. well, i feels like eating, so i guess i'll be going soon. prolly read some more joyce tonight. i hope nothing interferes with my going to ireland (what with the bombings and all, and maybe there'll be a war that'll try to stop me). i'm so enamoured with the idea, you know. might watch some python, as well. you know, cause most things are pre-empted by stinkin news updates (i have some episodes of flying circus on tape, y'see). i really hope i get to go to ireland.
anyway...
later.
